Trips and news

The Glenkens Transport Initiative (GTI), mini-bus was purchased by the Glenkens Community & Arts Trust in 2002 with funding from the Scottish Executive and Age Concern. The bus fulfils an important role in an area where public transport is very limited and many people do not own a car. The bus is also adapted to carry wheel-chairs, increasing its versatility and accessibility. It gives both residents and visitors to the area the opportunity to travel either locally on the Registered Route, (which supplements existing public transport) or further afield on one of the trips arranged by the GTI. This has allowed many people to enjoy a day out at places such as the Falkirk Wheel, New Lanark and Portpatrick as well as shopping trips and visits to exhibitions in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

If you would like more information on the bus, please call the GTI bus administrator at The CatStrand on 01644 420374.
