Taking the First Step in Computing

Elementary six week courses starting from switching the computer on! The course offers a certified or informal introduction to computing. Learn to use the mouse, keyboard and basic word processing, internet and email. The ideal course to get started.  ILA grants are available. Run by The IT Centre, Castle Douglas in six week blocks throughout the year. Ages 18+

Taking the Next Step in Computing

 

Monday evenings

5.30pm-7.30pm

 

Computer Literacy and Information Technology Level 1: If you have just the very basics in computing and wish to progress your skills further, the CLAIT course is just what you are looking for. It is made up of a range of units to choose from such as Word Processing or Databases. Approximately 12 hours of study will complete each unit. An exam can be taken in any of the units for which a certificate will be awarded. The units include: File Management and e-Document production; Creating Spreadsheets and Graphs; Database Manipulation; e-Publication Creation (PowerPoint) and Online Communication (Internet access is necessary).

 ILA grants of £200 may be available. Contact the CatStrand for more details of costs and grants.

These courses run in 6 week blocks throughout the year according to demand, in association with the IT Centre, Castle Douglas.
