Exercise to Music


Every Monday

Exercise movements improve muscle strength and flexibility, strengthen bones; make joints more flexible, improve circulation and may reduce symptoms of arthritis and back pain. These movements help you to stay stronger and more mobile so that it is easier to do everyday tasks. The classes are run by exercise and dance Instructor Sam Hood and are open to all ages. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement and comfortable walking shoes.
 

 

Zumba

Zumba – A fusion of latin and international music that creates a dynamic, exciting and effective dance based fitness workout. Join the Zumba craze that is sweeping the nation.

 

Pilates

 

Thursdays from 3rd November
5.30pm-6.30pm

For core strength and stability. Pilates also helps to improve your balance, breathing, co-ordination,concentration, tone and posture.

 

Carers, Coffee and Chat

 

1st Tuesday in the month
10.00am-12.00pm

Are you caring for someone? Would you like to meet others in a similar situation and share your worries and experiences? Could you benefit from relevant talks, information and support? If so, come along for a coffee and cake. The group will meet regularly on the first Tuesday of the month.Transport may be available if required, please phone 01644 420374.

 

National Osteoporosis Society

 

Wednesday 7th February
1.00pm-3.00pm

The National Osteoporosis Society will be here to raise public awareness and understanding of Osteoporosis.They will look at how to look after your bones and the importance of diet and exercise to build healthy bones. They will be discussing the treatment of osteoporosis and how best to treat and prevent fractures.

 

Afternoon Tea Club

 

Second Friday of every Month
Film starts at 2.00pm

 

The Afternoon Tea Club features film screenings and cream teas for the retired members of the Glenkens community. A full list of film screenings is available to members.

 

Annual membership is at a cost of £5.00 per year, Cream teas cost £2.50 per week.

Volunteer Landmark Reached

 

Volunteer Co-ordinator Wendy Leach, the lady responsible for ensuring we have the required number of personel for each and every event held at the CatStrand and records the number of hours each volunteer has given to the organisation has just announced that so far in 2011 over 2000 hours has now been generously donated.
