Workshops and Learning

ila_logo.gifMany of the courses run at The CatStrand can be paid for through the ILA Scheme. ILA Scotland is a Scottish Government scheme which helps you get £200 a year towards the cost of learning something new. If you are 16 and over, living in Scotland and your income is £22,000 a year or less, or if you are on benefits, you can get up to £200 a year towards a wide range of courses.

There are plenty of courses to choose from. So if you want to brush up your skills to help you at work or learn something completely new contact ILA on 0808 100 1090. The money is not a loan so you don't have to pay it back!

Gold Award in Green Scheme

The Catstrand has been awarded Gold level (the highest status available) in the Green Tourism Business Scheme.

The report noted that:

The CatStrand does very well and maintains the prestigious GOLD level of award. The centre is much more than just an Art Venue ‐ It is a community hub, where locals and tourists are brought together. Art is showcased but their is also lots of local crafts, local books and excellent information on the many low carbon activities such as walks and cycle routes in the surrounding area. The venue has been involved in some of the Dark Skies initiatives that have taken place and continues to run the minibus service (with an additional bus). The site is still very green sue the wood chip heating system, high levels of insulation and modern refurbishment. Overall an excellent green venue and an example to others in Scotland.
