Tale Blazers Background

Tale-Blazers is a storytelling project which was been set up by GCAT in collaboration with the Galloway Children’s Festival and other local storytellers. Its aim was create 50 new storytellers across the region, essentially beginning the process of setting up an out-reach centre for storytelling at The CatStrand. This project will give anyone the opportunity to take part in order to become a skilled storyteller, whether in the classroom, in front of live audiences or just to read bedtime stories aloud to their own children. Five courses took place throughout 2006-7, which were run by professional storytellers who pass on their knowledge and experience in general techniques as well as the research and preparation in storytelling, the use of props, puppets and music, public speaking skills, vocal techniques and breathing exercises and how to create storytelling opportunities.

Funding was awarded from the Scottish Arts Council and LEADER+ to support this project.
