About the Jubilee Walk

The Jubilee Walk was established by GCAT in 2002 to mark the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. Originally a one-off, the walk has now become a popular circular route. The route is a fairly gentle nine miles, mainly on roads, so can largely be followed by car. It takes walkers through the Glenkens villages of Balmaclellan, New Galloway and St. John's Town of Dalry. A leaflet was produced with maps and historical details to be found on the walk. The leaflet can be found in shops and post-offices in each village. In addition to the wonderful Glenkens scenery and local landmarks, benches by local craftsman John Crosby from Auchencairn have been dotted around the route.

A leaflet with maps and historical details to be found on the walk is available free of charge from the CatStrand.
