Started in 2001, Glenkens Transport Initiative has become an important part of the local community and is greatly valued by people living in an area with very limited public transport.
Whether it be going on the of the regular GTI excursions, using the Wednesday evening bus service from Dalry to Castle Douglas, travelling to Newton Stewart for ‘senior swimming’ on Tuesdays or being part of one of the 50 user groups, there is always something for everyone.
GTI owns three mini buses – one with 16, one with 15 and one with 8 seats.
All three vehicles are wheelchair accessible.
All drivers are volunteers and trained to MIDAS standard by our own qualified instructor and all our vehicles undergo regular safety checks by an independent garage.
GTI works very closely with Dumfries and Galloway Council providing transport for Dalry School and a Summer Activity Playscheme in Castle Douglas. This excellent working relationship not only gives us a regular source of income but also access to extra vehicles if we require them.
New friends are often made by using the services we provide either as a passenger or a volunteer driver, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries email@example.com
