Job Description - Caterer/Cook

Overall Role

 

The role, as part of the catering team, is to manage stock, prepare and serve food in the café at CatStrand in accordance with all current Health & Safety regulations. The role will also involve catering for venue hire bookings and occasional evening functions at CatStrand and at our other venue, The Smiddy.

 

The catering staff report to the Enterprise & Facilities Manager.

 

 

Duties include:

 

  • Organising and running the CatStrand kitchen

  • Menu planning and costing 

  • Managing and preparing home baking requirements

  • Preparing and serving daily refreshments at the CatStrand

  • Preparing and serving food for room hire bookings

  • Preparing and serving food at other events as required 

  • Ordering supplies

  • Cleaning and maintaining coffee machine and other kitchen equipment

  • Interacting with customers and dealing with catering enquiries

  • Keeping high cleanliness standards and maintaining records

  • Following all guidelines in line with Food Safety Legislation

 

Other:

 

  • Flexible working is required, including regular weekend cover and occasional evening work

  • Promoting and participating in an alert and positive approach to Health & Safety and appropriate working methods at all times

  • Helping to ensure that the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and all relevant Health & Safety legislation is applied effectively to all activities at all times

  • Working as an effective team member, contributing to the development of the organisation as a whole

  • Ensuring efficient delivery of any other tasks reasonably required.
