A comic chamber-opera about an ageing spinster and an old seaman. She enjoys looking after him and he wants to be left in peace. Or does he? Both dream of better days in grand arias and bitter duets. Two sad, lonely neighbours who share the same toilet!
A wonderful introduction to opera for younger audiences.

The Art of Ballads and Bards

A visual performance-reading of the Crichton Writers' work inspired by the art of Sheila Mullen. The artist will also give a short talk about the Border themes that inspire her.

Play it by Ear is a monthly song, music and storytelling workshop for pre-school children, run by the writer, storyteller and musician, Tony Bonning. Play it by Ear aims to give young children an introduction to rhythm, instruments and singing. Sessions are suitable for children from birth onwards. No booking necessary - just turn up!

king of counterfeiters. He lives a mischievous life of cards, booze, and women in Berlin during the Nazi-era. Suddenly his luck runs dry when arrested by Superintendent
Friedrich Herzog. Immediately thrown into the Mauthausen concentration camp, Salomon exhibits exceptional skills there and is soon transferred to the
upgraded camp of Sachsenhausen. Hand-picked for his unique skill, Salomon and a group of professionals are forced to produce fake foreign currency under the program Operation Berhard.
Faced with a moral dilemma, Salomon must decide whether his actions, which could prolong the war and risk the lives of fellow prisoners, are ultimately the right ones.

In 1563 the twenty year old Mary, Queen of Scots, was only just getting to know her new kingdom. In this year she went on pilgrimage to Whithorn, probably riding along the pilgrim route by the Rhinns of Galloway, accompanied by her musicians. Fresh from the wealth and vitality of the French court her musical tastes were for the sweet chansons and lively dances of her youth. The Galloway Consort present an evening of 16th century music on recorders, viols, lute and renaissance guitar, sounds to stir sweet memories.
