Choreography Skills Lab
Thursdays (during term time) 7pm – 8.30pm  |  FREE
Ages 10 - 18                       From January 2016

 

 

So you love to dance! This weekly session is just for you and will help you improve your choreographic skills so you can create your own dances. Choreography is the art of designing a dance and in these sessions you will learn how shape, space, timing and dynamics are used when creating choreography.

Event Traineeships
Weekly January - March |  FREE
Ages 16-25

 

Looking for a new challenge? Join the GCAT Youth Team for a ten week traineeship! We’ll give you access to expert tutors, for one session per week, who will guide you through your chosen field. Great experience for your portfolio. Participants can choose from two areas of focus: Event Management or Sound and Lighting for The Stage. You could:

 

  • Work on real-world projects and events

  • Gain skills for employment or further education

  • Network with creative professionals

  • Plan and run your own activities in the Glenkens

CatStrand Youth Players

If you are interested in acting, directing, costumes, sound, lighting, stage management, or any other aspect of drama or theatre, then come along and have some fun.

 

The group produce and perform several plays per year.

The CatStrand Young Film Makers Club
Various projects throughout the Year |  ages 12-25  |  FREE

 

Interested in making movies? The new CatStrand Young Film Makers Club is open to anyone with an interest in acting, writing, directing, special effects, sound effects, music, lighting, or even just a love of films and TV.  No experience necessary! The Club will be producing films throughout the year including documentaries, music videos, and drama shorts.

Access All Areas
Mondays (during term time)  |  age 12-25  |  FREE
7-9pm (plus excursions & events)   - Begins January 2016

 

Interested in writing, playing, recording, producing, or performing music?  This project is a series of interactive workshops designed to help young people develop their musical ability and get a better understanding of the music business. The workshops will be delivered by experienced musicians and producers and will include a day trip to a professional recording studio. Budding musicians will be offered free recording sessions along with the opportunity to team up, and collaborate, with other like-minded musicians. All abilities welcome.

Visual Arts Club
Tuesdays (during term time) 4-5.30pm|  FREE

Are you passionate about Art? This weekly session will help you to deepen and broaden your knowledge about all things ART.We'll be exploring the History of Art and seeing how famous artists from the past still impact on present. We'll meet local artists and see how they develop their creativity and be encouraged to experiment and make our own art. BE INSPIRED & CREATE!

Something to Say? A Story to tell?This weekly session can be your vehicle for getting your throughts down on paper.Join the writing group and hone your writing skills.We'll be creating short stories for World Book Day on March 9th; writing a one act play for the Youth Literature Festival in July and getting creative with inspiration from Roald Dahl in the centenary year of his birth. Whether it's a short story, poem, play or piece of journalism there is plenty of creative projects to explore. Bring YOUR IDEAS to the page.
